In March, 2013 in the Belgian city of Gent, Turkmenistan took part in the International Exhibition “Flanders Horse Expo-2013” - one of the largest in Europe annual exhibitions in the horse-breeding and equestrian sports. In the first days of spring, it again brought together in the largest Expo Center of Belgium around 180 exponents from 30 countries, which presented their products and developments, services and technologies related to the horse world.

The event included also presentations of numerous schools of jockeys and riding skills, horse clubs, whose number grows all over the world. Leading international companies of equestrian and horse-breeding businesses, representatives of international horse associations and hippodromes, stud farmers and prominent riders took part in the forum.

Organized on the instruction of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov by the “Turkmen atlary” State Association in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Tourism Committee and Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the national exposition demonstrated the rapid developmental rates of Turkmenistan’s modern horse-breeding and equestrian industry.

The Turkmen President’s books on Akhalteke horses have aroused special interest of the horse industry experts, numerous visitors of exhibition, the admirers of horse beauty. Undoubtedly, permeated by the Turkmen people’s tender love for beautiful horses, the wonderful books “Akhalteke horse – our pride and glory”, “Winged racehorses’ flight”, thanks to translations, will help foreign readers to get a closer insight into the spiritual heritage of Turkmen people, to familiarize in detail with the history and outstanding representatives of the famous breed, to clearly realize the perspectives of horse-breeding in Turkmenistan.

In the frames of business program of the exhibition, the Turkmen delegation representatives met with the “Flanders Horse Expo-2013” Organizing Committee’s leaders and other concerned persons, representing different companies and associations to discuss the issues of mutually beneficial cooperation between the concerned structures, establishment of direct interdepartmental ties with Turkmenistan in the field of equestrian sport.

Foreign specialists were informed about the upcoming festivities in our country, dedicated to the Turkmen Horse Day, that envisage also the international activities: a scientific conference on Akhalteke horse breeding, a beauty contest of the breed best representatives and a specialized exhibition-fair.

In the course of exhibition, the collegial discussions and experience exchange have been held on such issues as development of hippology science, improvement of horse breeding logistics, new approaches to selection-pedigree work, organization of international horse races, etc.

The exhibition has become an international forum for producers, dealers and distributors of the companies, specializing in supply of different equipment, sports equipment and horse accessories. In this respect the Turkmen market has attracted attention of the businessmen, who see here good perspectives for establishing partnership both in equestrian sport and the tourist services segment, where the Turkmen racehorse’s role is becoming more bright and prominent.
